Your calendar can be packed, your team can be talented, and your workplace can still feel stuck. That’s the puzzle we tackle in today’s Time and Energy Morning Brief, starting with a simple Monday truth: having energy and knowing where to aim it are two different skills.

I share a personal reset after a full weekend, then zoom out to what we’re learning through our work in time and energy direction: organizations don’t only lose energy when people are exhausted. They lose energy when good people burn it in competing directions. Marketing pushes for leads, sales chases closes, operations optimizes for efficiency, customer service fights for the customer and everyone can be “productive” while the business struggles to move forward. That’s misalignment hiding behind motion.

We ground the idea in research on shared mental models, the shared understanding teams develop about goals, roles, and coordination, and why that clarity links to stronger team performance. We also talk about role ambiguity, conflicting goals, and how limited resources like time, attention, and energy get drained when priorities collide. I’ll leave you with one question to carry into your week: are we working hard in the same direction? If this helps, subscribe, share it with a teammate, and leave a review so more leaders can turn busy work into real progress.
