Time & Energy Morning Brief™️
Each weekday morning, I record a short audio reflection on leadership, performance, relationships, values, and what it means to show up well for the people and things that matter most.
It's five intentional minutes before the world starts asking things of you.

Close The Loop
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your workday ends, but your mind keeps drafting the email, replaying the conversation, and circling the decision you didn’t make. We’ve both had those nights where we’re technically off the clock while still spending mental and emotional energy at the office, and it’s exhausting in a way that never shows up on the calendar.
We dig into a fresh 2026 meta-analysis on unfinished work and what happens after people leave work, including the strong link to rumination. The big takeaway is simple and a little uncomfortable: our brains don’t care much about closing the laptop, they care about closing the loop. That’s why “stopping work” and “recovering from work” are not the same thing, especially if you’re trying to protect your sleep, reduce stress, avoid burnout, and show up tomorrow with real capacity.
We also share a practical alternative to the impossible goal of finishing everything. Earlier research suggests that making a specific plan for an unfinished task, deciding where, when, and how you’ll pick it back up, can help you detach because it removes uncertainty. We walk through a quick experiment you can try today: identify the one or two items most likely to follow you home, then tell your brain exactly what happens next.
If you want more energy, better work-life balance, and a cleaner shutdown at the end of the day, listen now, then subscribe, share with a friend who can’t stop thinking about work, and leave a quick review with your favorite end-of-day reset.
